Council tax rise will be a heavy blow for pensioners and the low paid!

Freehelpadvice: Council tax rise will be a heavy blow for pensioners and the low paid!

With the average council tax bill forecasted to rise by 4.2 per cent in Britain during 2007/08, the Liberal Democrats have warned that the increase could be too much for some. Andrew Stunell, Liberal Democrat local government spokesman, said that the council tax rise will be a heavy blow for pensioners and the low paid and more people will be added to the two million people already struggling to pay their council tax bills.

A 4.2% increase on top of all the increases of previous years is a total and absolute disgrace when one considers how wasteful local councils are. These immoral organisations are havens of gross and disgusting inefficiency which is just simply dumped as an extra cost and burden on the tax payer. The parasites in the town hall have very little concept of the real world. Council tax payers have their taxes put up to fund the pensions of the town hall parasites. They can't even empty the rubbish when they say they will. Tossers.

Council tax must be replaced by local income tax payable in proportion to income, which has been in place in japan for more than half century without a problem.

Sovietuk and Japanese Uncle

I would love to be with you but sadly i know a little about local government as my wife works for one council, firstly the pensions in"Local Government " are rubbish, my wife's will be nothing short of a token pension and to be honest not worth the bother.

Granted some of the councils could do with a shake up but i think the whole UK has fallen for TB and GBs spin, they have been reducing local government grants for years now and introducing legislation that costs councils extra ( without any funds for the requirements ), my wife has just survived the second set of redundancies ( all paid at UK government minimums of course ) in two years.

Councils could be more efficient but the problems and rises being faced now and in the near future come entirely from GB and TB.

TB and GB would love it to happen but they also know exactly what it would cost, everything has to be funded the same so your pensioners end up paying far less ( maybe that's warranted ) , your unmarried mums and those that don't work haven't an income and pay nothing, all of a sudden those in employment face paying an extra 10% of their salary ( which is what it is estimated at ) to fund local services. I suspect the Japanese system has developed over the years.

I do and always have blamed Maggie for a lot of things and this is one of them, why is it never mentioned about who makes up the shortfall for the old rates system, i know people who were paying £25000 rates a year in 1978 ( yes in 1978 ) and Maggie changed that overnight to £800 a year...............................................Did anyone ever wonder who would be funding the difference in income to local government?

Scrap Tridents and tax 90% of banks' profit, by introducing STT(Special Tax for the Tricky) which penalize all operations stealing billions from the general public, not earning by hard work. Also heavily tax any capital gain from any other houses than owners ' residential homes. Income tax rate must be increased up to 95% for those with millions of income. Sack all those fat cats at NHS and other quangos doing no service to the public, but themselves. Then middle class can even enjoy tax cuts, probably. Also force Switzerland ad other tax havens to disclose their clients detail, exactly as private citizen's small secrets are exposed everywhere, then tax them, and charge them for extremely likely tax evasilons, and spend the proceeds for those pensioners freezing in the Highlands, dying in a queue for surgery, and maybe for surviving families of the dead servicemen. Very simple.
