TimesOnline: Banks to write off record £6.6bn of bad personal debt
Bad Debts: Barclays £1.67b / Lloyds TSB £1.26b / HBOS £1.24b / RBS £1.34b / HSBC £943m. A 20% increase on 2005, which itself was 50% up from 2004.

Can't believe it - cross-posted twice in one day - this time i'm 2 mins slower to post - what an odd day.
Think I will top it off by getting a 10X interest only mortgage and caining 3 credit cards and a personal loan.

Personally I think 6.6bill written off is a lot. That wipes out the profit on half a trillion I would guess. And this is just the start IMHO.
