Morons buy hotel rooms
Guardian: A room with a view to profit
BTL hotel rooms. What a good idea. Presumably now even the BTL landlords can't afford a whole house

Good Hotels need to be refurbed every two to three years in order to retain occupancy rates, which will bring yields down.
Another thing to note is that you are investing in a hotel business, not in property. Your return is heavily influenced by how well the hotel does, (customer service, market conditions, tourism, etc).
Just another media story that will add fuel to the paniced BTL and FTBers.

I think I'm spotting a trend here that could be an investment opportunity.
With FTB become as rare as the dodo due to high prices and BTL being now only the realm of the incredibly stupid it seems as there may be some currently some investment opportunity in Hotel rooms but this is old hat really as this type of investment has been running for sometime.
The smart money will be in tents. As people have been pushed down through the property chain a new rung is appearing at the bottom, that new rung is the humble tent. Anybody with some land should now invest in tents and bring their own little bit of Darfor to the UK.
Now offence meant to any FTB but the property market is entering the completely surreal.

Denzil, Actually you may have a point.
I see a market in Mobile homes. Excellent profit margins. All you need is the land and planning permission.
