Blanchflower hits back at "Dove" suggestion.."If I am wrong then I will vote for a rate rise."

Guardian: MPC economist denies 'dove' decision on rates

David Blanchflower, the US-based economist on the Bank of England's monetary policy committee, has hit back at suggestions that he is a "dove" determined to keep interest rates down. In his first interview since joining the MPC in June last year, he told the Guardian: "I am as hawkish as anyone about keeping inflation on target."

But hey, I'm sure all the members of HPC.co.uk will know more than this idiot about the economy and labour market. Everyone on here has a PhD in economics and could do a much better job than the BoE have!! LOL

"But he is concerned that the housing market has been booming again. This may have meant "money was too loose" and was why he did not vote to cut interest rates last year."

But still didn't vote to (*shock horror*) raise rates then?

"The video conferencing system means he can take an active part in briefings of all kinds with bank staff and MPC members, he says."

Yank tosser. Stay away from things you don't understand.

I must admit that I really don't like having a septic on the MPC. It's not as if they do a great deal and I refuse to beleive they couldn't find someone in the right country for the job

"What does irritate him, though, is that some parts of the media have said that the inflation measures are wrong and that inflation is nearer 10% than 3%. 'We are trying to anchor inflation expectations and if some journalists knock that anchor, it is unhelpful.' "

Your anchor is in the wrong place, Blanchflower
