Council Taxes Could Be 1% of Property Values Soon
Telegraph.co.uk: Show your local authority the front door over higher charges
Typically speculation by the media, however nearly all local authorities are going broke so Tony and Gordon will allow a report to be released ( leaked ) showing that council taxes need to be based on current values, there will be widespread horror at 1% and it will be accepted when its .5 to .75%.
Not the time to have a £1.5 Million home, well maybe if you can afford it - Tony.

Then what should happen in the event of HPC? Council revenue could halve in a few years. How can they set out long-term planning on such flimsy basis? This plan must have been devised by a retard.

Overspending at local level and central government reducing its contributions. All coming to a head. Gordans miracle is gradually unravelling!!!
HPI the cornerstone of the economy. Lets tax it!!
p.s. what about a tax on windows? This would be environmently friendly and would raise revenues. (We could have lots of antiavoidance legislation about bricking them up)

Of course the value of houses for the purpose of council tax would be set at the 2007 benchmark and, in the case of a crash, would not be readjusted until they had exceeded their 2007 level in 2023.

Well they sat back and let the contributions from the richer 30% of any community be cut to a token contribution without wondering where the difference would come from, will they be so gullible - probably.

So I wonder if the aim is to extract more council tax or just simply obtain the same amount in different proportions from the general populace?
But then, why bother changing the system if the idea is to extract the same amount?
I wonder what all the councils will do with all the extra money?
In fact, I'm glad I don't own a car anymore, they will probably double the parking attendants.
Or, maybe they'll use this to pay for the Olympics, there is a rather hefty bill coming up pretty soon.
