Nestle is the second largest employer in York, after the local council. I'm guess it won't be long before Nestle shuts down operations completely here, with thousands more jobs facing the axe.
Headline from last week: 450 York jobs to go at Norwich Union
Headline from last month: 100+ jobs go at British Sugar's York plant.
Headline from last year: 300+ jobs go as Terry's moves out of York
York is so screwed. And despite this some dunce in the Yorkshire Post today was going on about how York is going to have a property boom - http://www.yorkshiretoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=1084&ArticleID=1777005
