Now about the article: "But economists say this system is meaningless to most middle class homes because it excludes many of their staple costs, such as school fees, council tax, domestic help, and household insurance." School fees and domestic help? I thought I was middle class but clearly I'm not -- thank god I can say I'm working class again. Phew!
It remains to be seen how important this focus on inflation will become. The real test will be with the BoE over the next few months. Articles like this can only fuel the expectation that rates will rise again; and the knock on effect of this on house prices will be very interesting to watch. Is this bubble making a hissing sound...?

Bus fares into the city are now £3.20 return, a couple of weeks ago it was £2.40!!!!! THANKS GORDON!!!!!!!

thank god ive escaped to the sunny gold coast oz, where you can still buy a decent property for round about 130000 pounds, where all this working class middle class is not perhaps quite so obvious here
