It's GM Quiches from China then! ... Mmmmm...
I read a recent report which said people just prefer to eat out now so even the ready meal makers are struggling... Judging by the queues of students lined up to spend the banks money on warmed orange slop ( & Magners!!! - Strange that all you need to do is tell the gullable public that cider is from Ireland and they buy it in droves!) I can verify this trend.

Itīs quite simple really - the UK is just too expensive on all counts. Wages, housing, public transport ...
It does not make the country very competitive in my humble opinion.

I thought we where all going to be a nation of property developers, bankers and mortgage brokers. We do not need to manufacture anything anymore. I wish I never did the engineering degree now. Sigh.

As someone who has been fortunate to foreign travel a lot, I would totally agree that the UK is so expensive infact i cannot think of anywhere where the general cost of living is higher- nearly every time I travel which used to be 2 or 3 trips a month I would buy clothes and other things, especially tobacco, and alchohol to bring back with me. I have met many people who get an easy jet flight or Ryan air flight returning the same day, laden with a case full of beer and cigarettes because it is cheaper than buying in this country, even adding in the cost of the flight. Surely the Irish Cider people have got it right - promote your product hard to a new market and reap the rewards. Next it will all be German Sausage or Sushi that the gullable public take to.

Correction, it'll be Irish German Sausage and Irish Sushi that they'll take to... Lots of fiddles, horses running through council estates and a red-haired, pink-cheeked lady with twinkly eyes and a big sausage between her...
I should have been in advertising! ;)
