Independent online: Would a US housing crash impact here?
It is the little signs that give you an early warning that something important may be happening. In this case it is the matter of US house prices, for, as here in the UK and in some other markets, it has been a housing boom that has helped support consumption growth. Now, it seems, the boom is over.

Now that's more of a balanced viewpoint, why can't all public media be a bit more like this?.
The last paragraph is so spot on!!
The bit I'm not sure on, is that he thinks that if the Fed then cut interest rates that it would restart growth. The housing market tends to shift with momentum and takes time to reverse, and I would think that any form of equity releasing into the ecoming would take even longer.
