I have a 5 figure sum in a HBOS Fixed ISA (Matures in January).
Should I remove it? I would lose the years interest on it if I did!

I know what I'm going to do. Just wanted to know what HPCers would do!

Only keep £35,000 in one banking group. If you do more you are taking an unncessary risk. The governement will garantee £35,000 for eaching banking group (not each bank). This means it is nit worth the while taking the risk.

e.g. if you have £50,000 in HBOS, you are only garantteed £35,000
E.g if you have £35,000 in HBOS and 35,000 in Loyyds - you will only be garanteed £35,000
e.g. if you have £35,000 in HBOS and 35,000 in Northern Rock - you will be garanteed £70,000

Why take the risk!!!
