Play along with this for a bit.... laugh.gif

I supply Broadcast equipment to all the major channels and many of the programmes you all watch ( Including property porn ohmy.gif ) are produced using my equipment. The BBC is one of my biggest clients but we also deal with everyone else, ITV, Ch4, SKY etc and we also supply all the equipment needed to produce feature films.
I have the facilties to produce and edit material in full HD.

Just imagine we found enough skilled people who use this forum, with all my FREE kit we could make a wonderful Doco, highlighting the accuracy of many predictions with a few future ones chucked in. We could interview posters whose identity could be protected.
Just imagine Paddles, Injin, The masked tulip. Laura..Eric Pebbles...Too many to mention all giving oppinions with only a silhouette showing with the voices disguised. FP could narate and we could show a few old clips where he has been proved so completely correct.
We could show the history of HPC, Plenty of graphs and basically FP could direct any future interviewers to the documentary made in 2008. This would include the false dawn of 2005 and the reasons why.

We have the Equipment, Producer, narrator, plenty of cast ( All at no cost )

HPC Management would have full control over content and image rights!! This would be a little project for me and I would imagine an enjoyable one. This site has and will save me a fortune through knowledge so I am happy to give something back.

Any thoughts? Just a bit of fun

Joking aside, it will happen at somepoint, when people of the public scream for answers.

Good Idea. You'll need a good director and scriptwriter as well.

Red has written radio plays for the BBC on this very topic, so perhaps he could help with the script.

Do we have any documentary directors on the board?

Bosh - I used to be luvvie... I mean, deep voice, a serious documentary film-maker. Several other HPCers I know on here also currently work in telly or used to. I would be interested wink.gif

Actually, I am more interested in what kit you supply and am curious what cameras the Beeb, ITN and Co are buying these days? The days of 50K camera are long gone I have heard - are they? I am told that they are spending less than 5K a camera these days and getting away with it - would be interested to hear your views on that?

Right, I am off for my croissant and a look through Broadcast, The Stage and Playluvvie!

Can I do the `on location' bits, reporting fearlessly from Florida and Spain?

You will also need volunteers to do the Roger Cook bit - doorstepping Kirsty and shouting questions at her as she is bundled into a car and speeds off nearly running over the camera crew.

The programme should finish with a serious voice saying:

I always thought a book would be a good idea when all's said and done.

Some of the best threads going back to the start along with some newspaper stories and poster biographies (I'd love to see what some of you look like - specifically Eric P).

We could be really pretentious and do a `film within a film' thing.

I and Mrs Y would apply to be on Locationx3 and Bosh could install a hidden camera and microphone in my rural attire. FP would then feed us things to say via a speaker in our ears, whilst hidden in a blacked out van across the road from each dream property we view.

Krusty: This is a fantastic space isn't it - and you could easily knock down that wall and add thousands to the value.
Us: (putting finger in ear): Nah, I think we'll buy some gold and wait 2 years. Oh, hang on, .... Do you think we could get a liar loan Kirsty?

I think there is a need to show the full horror of property porn and the shameful role of the Government and the banksters in encouraging people to MEW and speculate with their homes.

Some live docu of nasty debt collectors, bailiffs, repossessions, distraught families at the Citizen's Advice Bureau, bankrupts and suicides would be cool. All intercut with some choice soundbytes of Gordon claiming the economy is fundamentally sound, we've lifted millions out of poverty etc.

That Belgian film crew who did the documentary on the mass murderer would be perfect.

ohmy.gif Serious stuff

I have been PM`d by two very experienced broadcast chaps amongst the hpc ranks. I will as requested not name any names but we have a Narrator for serious documentaries who has his own Voice over studio, he is also a presenter on the major channels and involved in speaking about politics on the radio.
We also have an award winning designer and scriptwriter and producer.

Both willing to help if we decide to get something off the ground. I would be interested to hear from FP and the powers to be at HPC to get some views from above. Is this something that would interest them?

The publicity for this site would be enormous if this was aired on one of the main channels. The story has been part told, the story is happening and the story is about the truth.

I believe we have all the ingredients among hpc posters to produce a serious film/doco. It would take someone with the know-how and commitment to take this on and bring it all together.

I have the use of a broadcast studio in Camden and the abilty to provide equipment all over the uk.

HPC, FP this is a very hot topic and I am sure many broadcasters will be interested in this.

The circularity of that film is quite appropriate for the housing market. You could make a spoof where the banks employ heavies to harrass their borrowers, but they end up getting their heads smashed in by their own debt-collectors.

Hello TMT,

Yes and no with the cameras being used by the Beeb, the main cameras being used and our breadwinner is the small Sony Z1 ( cost 3k ) The range goes on from there from DV Cam to HD900R`s HI-DEF ( 42k ish)
The expensive Hi-def kit is mainly used for docos and Dramas. We are the main suppliers for BBC Drama.

I am surprised by the amount of HPCers that were or are in the buisness. I have been quoted in Broadcast and the producer mag. on numerous occasions darling laugh.gif

Edit to add....

I have been in this game for 20 years and yes, any monkey can pick up a camera and shoot and the quality is only better by way of technology. Many, many good cameramen have now moved on and the bbc like many others cut corners by sending out numerous snotty nosed kids out to gather 100`s of hours of worthless shite to make a half hour badly shot programme. In fact we have to talk them through the whole production and I am considering introducing a premium rate line to cover costs. Profesional crew know how to look after kit.

But how are you going to do it? To be fair to most of the opinion on here it would more have to be a series rather than a single documentary. Would HPC censor comment or would everyone get a voice.

Plus you have conflicting opinion on what has caused it although I think you have unanimous agreement that we are all looking at a sign saying that we a ducking ducked or similar.

If your interested even though I've not been here long I've got letters I wrote to the BoE in Jan 2007 warning them of their stupidity and what was looming. Obviously I was dismissed and I came to that conclusion long before finding similar insane people like me here who also clearly didn't understand economics like the academic elite.

And I fully believe I could have averted the worst crash in history, there would still have been a downturn but we could have had a much software landing rather a sudden cataclysmic halt.

That's the problem with video - no discipline in the shooting ratio and, as you say, they just shoot hours of c rap. I am from the old 16mm days - showing my age - and even with video I stick to film shooting ratios.

Yes, the 'never mind the quality feel the width' mentality of the bean-counters has destroyed a great industry which used to generate large revenues for the UK. Virtually all the good cameramen, recordists, sparks and editors got out years ago or are only holding in there for financial reasons - not that there is any money in TV land these days. I got out in '97 and got into te 'Net stuff because I got fed up with the dumbing down even back then.

I might be in the market for a camera later on this year - only a cheap one like the Sony Z1 though. I thought the Beeb were mainly using the Panasonic equivalent. Last time I was in the Natural History Unit they seemed to have Panasonics all over the place - boxes of them.
TheUnknown
We had an hour long documentary made about our family nearly four years ago by the Beeb. It is quite incredible how, even occasionally now, complete strangers will suddenly ask 'aren't you that woman off the telly' at the most inappropriate moment!

We have also had articles written about us in many national newspapers, magazines and appeared on various other TV programmes.

I think it's a splendid idea and certainly topical, though I would also urge some caution - not wanting to be a damp squid....but, even when we have been promised some editorial influence, the reality has always been that we most often don't get to see the piece until it's broadcast or published.

We have been misquoted and serious facts have been omitted or misinterpreted etc, etc.

If it happens enjoy, but make sure you are well prepared for the aftermath.....

Thunderbird 900
Just imagine... We could have Bruno doing the multi coloured advertising.

If we stick to the facts, backed up with evidence and I would imagine we have plenty of that through the forum we can not go wrong.
We could seriously annoy people but not any more than FP does weekly on tv at the moment. Stick to the facts and maybe begin with `Why hpc was formed in the first place, the sort of occupations we have. We have students, the unemployed, teachers, professors, mechanics, scientists, people who are potless talking to multi millionaires on this forum, everyone discussing the most talked about subjects in the uk. The housing market and economy.

The difference with this forum is that we have been doing this far longer than most of the population and have numerous people who called this crash/recession/credit crunch etc way before the media jumped on and we can prove it.

We can discuss the pain of those who STR in the belief that the crash would happen in 2005 and then lay down the shameful reasons why it was avoided only to make it three times as bad for everyone now.

I would imagine the sheeple will be fuming that we/you were not listened to over the years. This will shame the goverment/banks and the many so called VI experts that said we/you were all mad.

Could all this have been avoided.... You get to state your case.

There will be no religion and no far right/left wing politics involved, steer away from personal insults to anyone, including Krusty. We can be critical and pour scorn on property porn but we need to avoid any legal issues and or reasons for anyone to state as has been stated before that this forum is full of loons

Stating facts can be hard especially in the game of guessonomics.

This crash will be talked about for decades.

As I said a 1hr or even a 2hr documentary wouldn't to it justice and trying to agree on what the facts are could be difficult as your going to get people in diametrically opposed camps, so you could have a lot of paradoxical arguments which will conflict each other and could end up being confusing for anyone watching.

I feel sorry for the luvvies that are now being forced to film using HD, you can get pretty close to film by setting in the film mode but to be honest it`s not the same, plus the 16mm types are more used to dealing with companies that can give them the time and commitment required.
Yep, some bright spark at the bbc decided that the main format would be Pana-chronic, This lasted for a short period but not before we loaded up with the panasonic HDX900 Cam.... AaRGGH, Pretty lousy support from the manufacturer soon ensured that Sony became pretty much preferred choice, Panasonic is still being used but less and less.

Z1 is a good choice, PM me nearer the time of your purchase and I`ll give you details of any new formats on the horizon and point you in the right direction.

Just a bit of fun

or is it? wink.gif Could it work?

Part of my job is production accounting although it sounds like my services will not be required in this instance.

Good luck, Bosh. Hope you get it off the ground.

Joking aside, it will happen at somepoint, when people of the public scream for answers.

At the moment, people think a credit crunch is some passing fad like Bird flu, when it is more serious and protracted

Why is the Young Bill Gates (Microsoft) in the picture at the bottom left, hasnt he made enough money.
