Linky to a main forum thread that links to this article in the Ipswich Evening Star - affordable homes, and council tenancies on the Ipswich dockside.

That sounds like great news! smile.gif Perhaps not so great for the owner occupiers & renters who can afford the other places as market rates. ohmy.gif

Seeing these types of places being built and getting sold for telephone number prices, it seemed pointless that these types of places were being built while there are still lots of people on waiting lists. Developers should have done more research about what the local popuation earns and priced the properties accordingly. smile.gif

I think they all thought that commuters into London would snap them up. Probably some have.... I'm guessing they'll be seriously narked when the council tenants move in, unless the council are very choosy over the clientelle they decide to put in there!

Probably the same thing will be coming to Norwich V soon - presumably the Norwich Council must have set some social/affordable housing stipulations for the Riverside developments - but everyone's being very quiet about them.

All very secret if you ask me - get the things built and marketed to BTL and those with loads of money and keep quiet about the proportion that are allocated to social housing. Then when you've offloaded as many as you can (like now) to all the mugs out there you do the social housing bit - of course it would never work if you made this clear from day one.

I suspect that those £1m apartments sold at Reed Mills won't be worth £1m again for a long time! ohmy.gif
