There is an article in Hiday.net about retiring to Cyprus. It is hilarious but incredibly sad at the same time. It was written about 2 years ago. I bet the people that bought property wish they hadn't now!

I saw the article about water shortages in Cyprus - lucky so much property is empty really.

Building in Cyprus is collapsing like elsewhere, single house permits are down 22% in a year, based on April data - and I bet fewer start than get permits. Like Ireland a year back, builders have switched to commercial in hope.....

I too saw the article in hiday.net but it is not that bad, Cyprus is cheap to live in and ideal for pensioners, arguably better than Spain.

Arguably ? I'd say definitely. Economic surplus, much stricter plannning laws and an english legal system to name but three advantages. Plus if you buy in high end developments there is even less supply. Oh and did I mention they've just found oil off the coast ?
