Greetings concerned citizens, wink.gif

Was wondering if anyone might be able to offer me some advice on asian currencies. I have already bought a little gold [and plan to continue buying when I can]. Yet was just listening to a Jim Rogers interview on goldseek.com and he mentioned how attractive both the chinese and japanese currencies are. the korean won is tanking at the moment, having lost something like 10% in the last few months. ohmy.gif

even though i am a bit of a gold bug, thought i could maybe buy some of the stronger currencies also.... diversify, hedge and all that
any suggestions on whether i should buy yen or yuan, and the reasons for them, would be much appreciated rolleyes.gif

what was it that the piggies built their house out of again? tongue.gif
Ah-so
Yuan is tied to the USD, so buy USD unless you think they will re-set the rate stronger (possible).

The yen is at around the 200-odd mark, which is my benchmark for average price. It has been down at 240 in the last year, so you have already missed 20% of gains. However, there is no reason why it should head towards 180. After all, currency markets only have a little to do with fundamentals and rationality.

Thanks for the info Ah so,
Wouldn't want to buy USD, I can only see it heading further south after this short term rally. You may be right about the fickleness of currency markets, but I can envisage a run on the US dollar due to fundamentals wink.gif

Though I suspect the Yen and Yuan will hold their value more than the won and US dollar, I will most probably stick to buying gold as I have more confidence in it as a hedge rolleyes.gif

Take care out there ph34r.gif
