Should we be concerned about this weeks European commissioners review over the UK governments takeover of Northern Rock? What could be the outcome, could they force the Treasury to withdraw its backing of NR deposits, if so what about the Treasurys three month notice promise?

Most news sources are saying that NR will need to shrink - mortgages and jobs. Haven't seen anything about deposits.

I think you will find that recently they managed to shrink their deposits quite successfully.
