Channel Fours 'A Place In The Sun' gave the Cape Verde islands 3rd place in thier top 10 places to invest in the world programme. This got me thinking.
A new airport scheduled to open this year is being built on Santiago which looks like the best island to invest in. Its a 5 1/2 hour flight. Beaches look far far better than Canaries which I always think have very poor beaches and non clear sea.
Im trying to get prices for land lots near to current early development.
Im only wanting to invest a modest amount - say £30000 as I like small but numerous investments.
Compared to Bulgaria this place offers year round sun and proper beaches and surely can rival the developed expensive Canaries in years to come.
I prefer land as you have less risk where as developers can go tits up and pocket your cash.
I would simply hold the land until a developer / individual offers an irrisistable sum.
Ive studied a Bahamian island called Great Exuma (nearly bought there) over 3 years and seen which plots did well. Those well off the beaten track have hardly moved where as those close to existing development but in areas of outstanding beauty have rocketted.
Important issues are security and water availability when considering virgin land for future development on un - developed poorer islands. The most important feature is a sea - view. Ive seen houses built in Bahammas with no sea view and no matter how lovely the property - they just dont appreciate by anything like as much as those with a sea view.
Ive also found for insurance (and peace of mind) its better to consider elevated land.
Im considering a trip in the next few months. Has anyone got any ideas on prices or info?
