Over the last seven months we have noticed a marked increase in the amount of interest in the Central Portugal region, there seems to be a lot of interest in this area of Portugal at the moment, lots of enquiries for property in the under 200k euros mark although still a steady flow of people looking at the under 30k euros market too, ruined farmhouse and cotages etc. looking to rebuild and sell on.

We have friends who have run an estate agents in the Algarve in Portimao for a number of years and this year they have noticed a slight drop in sales and enquiries for the southern coast.

I think whats happening is apart from all the tv publicity for central Portugal, people are just realising they can get far better value for thier money in that area. for example a 6 bedroom new build villa with 3000square metres of land can be bought for under 250,000 euros, the same place in the Algarve would be around 600,000 euros. or more if its got a sea view. also the cost of living in central Portugal is significantly lower than the Cities or the Algarve.

The new Airport opening at Ota near Lisbon will and is allready making a difference to the prices and interet in the area. that will be 3 international airports in the region.
anyone who would like any further info on the area, please contact me, be glad to help.
