I'm considering moving some money into Icesave bank, has anyone on here got an account with them and if so, how would you rate them?

pretty positive so far - easy to set up via the internerd.

i had a bit of a problem when i stupidly locked myself out of my account (the call centre was a bit difficult to get through) but so far so good.

they guarantee to exceed Base Rate by at least 0.25% until 01.10.09. - if they start to monkey around like ING did then i'm more than happy to go elsewhere.

Ta gasket37. Was the call centre problem one of actually getting through (lines engaged)?

I 've used them since they openend in the UK , had no problems .
FSA regulated , banking code , 5.7% is the best you can get for instant access they will be amongst the frontrunners for some time yet ,
On the pinned thread " best saving rates " much was written about them on there go back to October it will only take a few minutes to skim through it , i applied on line , just have a current account to link it to , takes 2 weeks .

yes - that was the crux of it.

i spoke to a scottish guy so it was obviously a U.K. call centre and i've not had the need to call them again so far.

the recorded message was very apologetic about the delays - perhaps they have put some more resources in by now...

the cheesy "on hold" call centre music rattled around my brain for most of the day though!

their web interface is pretty poor actually

I wanted to transfer some cash into my account and there was no easy way of getting the sort code and account number info!

(have sent them an email asking how?!)

also, have to print paper forms to change address - not terribly internetty (compare citibank / first direct)

Mind you, don't get me started on abbey - have now closed my account. interface and process is rubbish and their customer service is poor

They seem ok, there was a problem with my secuirty code/access being blocked and they sorted it out ok, I recieved an email the next morning and all was fine. I can't remember waiting on the line for too long.

ING pissed me off right from the start so I never bothered with them.

I've been with em for just over a month now. All good.

And I second grey shark's suggestion to have a nosey around on the best savings rates thread. It's actually a lot more entertaining than the name suggests. biggrin.gif

I've been with them three months. No problems at all and just got my first tax certificate through the post.

I got to speak to their customer services on the phone yesterday after a combination of browser and christh having a fit and managing to lock themselves out of their account.

After navigating their phone system (they have a seperate option for spanners that get their password wrong too many times and lock themselves out) the phone was quickly answered by a friendly northern lass who after confirming my security details was able to resolve my problem with reasonable speed and efficiency.

Much better than some bank support lines I've called.

Oh and Gasket, the hold music is great! When I sat down later in the day and had forgotten about it, the tune came back into my head and I wondered what song that nice music was from. Then I realised it was the ICEsave hold music and felt a bit daft. tongue.gif

Joined yesterday. This has been the easiest account I've opened BY FAR! I'm glad to hear that their call centre is in the UK: Probably Newcastle, judging by their address.

Not sure why you couldn't find the account details to make a transfer, bdon. It's clearly shown on the last page of the internet application.

Recommend. smile.gif

Are you considering using Icesave in addition to ICICI HiSAVE or instead of?

Sorry, posted in the wrong thread.

Noticed that Icesave has received an award for 'best online savings account' by the readers of What Investment. (presumably in their latest issue, not on the website yet)
