Full Version: Stocks Co-ordinated Team Effort Short/long

You might have heard of Sell in May and Go away right? A co-ordinated sell of stocks, causing a domino effect as stoplosses are breached.

Well there must be groups of investors in the web which plan weekly/monthly co-ordinated efforts to short or buy stocks all in one go by using CFDs. The combined effort of say 1000 investors with a leverage of £10,000 each (with only £1000 CFD deposit) can possibily make the market swing if they all sold or bought shares at the same time. With a spreadbet account also running you could profit by having shorts or buy orders set to "catch"this price movement.

I am sure the big institutions do this - as teams of investors always are better than a individual private investor going it alone.

PM me if you know any groups

If there isnt one - i might start one!

hi notanewmember, I tried to PM you about this but AFAIK this market abuse/manipulation is illegal (not that I'm passing judgement on whether it should be illegal or not).
If any big institutions did do this explicitly (like say co-ordinate themselves over the web) then the fsa would make sure heads roll!

if someone can clarify the legal issues, keep us posted smile.gif

it did cross my mind!!! laugh.gif

Did anyone get a moneyweek email telling you to perform a certain currency position at a certain time???

I didnt but another member has posted that spam email on here (i cant find)

Therefore some else has already thought of it - i am sure this thing goes on all the time but hard to prove.

i think you would find yourself exploited by professional traders.

if they saw you coming, they would push the price against you.
such trading can work for big traders because they have deep pockets,
and can hit the markets with more than one or two waves of orders
