Any experienced gold coin owners out there - what spread do you normally see between buying and selling to dealers?

E.g. if I bought 1oz tomorrow and sold it straight back to the dealer, what would be his spread on the buy/sell?

Thanks in advance..... smile.gif

Many people consider 10% of their total wealth in Gold is a prudent amount.

Some say go as high as 20% if you are really concerned about the future.

For myself......I am aiming for 50 Oz (which is about 12,000 Quids worth).

Cheers.

Hi

I've bought sovereigns at spot price from a dealer in Newcastle (they were bullion grade - lots of marks etc on them), so he would have bought them for less. Just guessing, I'd imagine spot - 5%?

For 1 oz Krugas I assume buy +4.5% above spot and sell -2% spt giving a 6.5% Spread

Much smaller spread on larger bars but depends on quantity check www.goldline.com

Moneyweek has a three page spread on why people should buy gold even at todays prices they say it is possible gold could see its price explode from $460 to $1000 in the space of a few days although a gradual rise over a few ears is much more likely cool.gif

For gold spot = £260 oz (or 31.1035g)

Baird buy scrap at the following prices per gram:

http://www.goldline.co.uk/goldlinedev/GC/G.../GLScraps.ghtml

9ct Gold
£ 3.06

14ct Gold
£ 4.75

15ct Gold
£ 5.09

18ct Gold
£ 6.11

22ct Gold
£ 7.46

22ct sovereign which weighs 7.98g = £59.53 intrinsic scrap gold value.
22ct brittania which weighs 34.05g = £254.01 intrinsic scrap gold value.

I imagine you would be able to sell at a slight premium over this (I have not sold gold yet though)
