Hello I am working on a channel 4 property programme called "SELLING HOUSES ABROAD" I am interested in hearing about people's success stories in overseas property investment as well as anyone's bad investment experience to feature in the new series.

Equally if anyone is thinking of investing in overseas property and is not yet decided where to invest their money, our property expert Andrew Winter can offer some guidance to help make the right decision.

If anyone is interested then please get in touch with me on 01273 224 825 or private message me.

Best Wishes

Didn't you do enough harm already in screwing people's finance by overhyping the overseas properties?

Your publication A place in the Sun is one of the source of people entering in big debts and big trouble. In the last issue they rave about Australia (whose market is in freefall) and
Bulgaria who is one the worst investment at the moment. They are usually 1 year behind, i.e. advertising places when the good deals were long gone.

One other example is Cape Verde, which is currently destroyed by the invasion of the hordes of brits "investors". It became "famous" after your programme declared it a property hotspot.

Buying and selling houses is so yesterday, how about some interesting TV programmes???
What's the purpose of this TV programme out of interest?

There are 10^11 stars in the galaxy. That used to be a huge number. But it's only a hundred billion. It's less than the national deficit! We used to call them astronomical numbers. Now we should call them economical numbers.

Selling Houses Abroad features property expert Andrew Winter as he advises the growing number of British homeowners facing major issues with their foreign properties, whether structural, legal or seemingly unsellable.

A lot of investors have little respect for these TV programmes. A typical program summary usually excludes financing costs and loss of interest previously received on capital held. Another cost overlooked is lost income as a result of some participants giving up a lot of UK work time.

Reminds me of builder neighbour bragging how much value he has added to his home yet failing to take account of all the lost income as a result of him working on his own home.

Time to move into reality CH4, or lose people.

Here I perfectly agree with you. The CH4 programmes are just manipulatives and they hide lots of costs.

Sweden has a high standard of living, comparable to that of other advanced Western European nations. The economy features a modern distribution system, excellent internal and external communications, and a skilled labour force. Timber, hydropower, and iron ore constitute the resource base of an economy heavily oriented toward foreign trade.
The purchasing process in Sweden is generally an open auction. The seller puts the house on the market with a relatively low asking price.
The broker keeps in touch with everyone that has showed interest and the bidding process starts. The education system in Sweden is also very excellent. You can check the Sweden property here

Why not get the list of all the people who bought property abroad on your previous C4 shows? Save yourself time pimping about on websites ;)
There's surely enough disgruntled purchasers to keep you busy for a few months............

By the way, I'm interested in buying in Texas. Can you contact me? I'll be happy to fly out with your crew for a week. :D

I quite agree. About 8 years ago I became friendly with a couple who had both given up their jobs to renovate a Tudor house (they did it beautifully incidentally). It took them three years. The husband was an architect (at that time 10 years in the business) and his wife had been a midwife. By the time they actually sold the property I had worked out that the amount they 'made' on it was about half the money they would have been earning if they had kept their jobs for those three years. But they thought they had become 'property developers' and kept smugly showing off about it. Didn't keep in touch after that so don't know if they are now loaded or repossessed.

Does anyone on the team own an overseas property portfolio? I was shocked by the admission, at last autumns A Place in the Sun show at the NEC, that none of the experts owned a property at all until recently when they had dippe into the London maklet. I am sure there are many bargains to be had at this time and there is always money to be made but we need our experts to have taken the risks, to be able to tell us about their experiences and not just have a good tan.
