More than half a million Apple computers have been infected with the Flashback Trojan, according to a Russian anti-virus firm.

An investigation by Dr Web suggests that about 600,000 Macs have installed the malware - potentially allowing them to be hijacked and used as a "botnet".

Perhaps Dr Web could comment on how he knows the download figure to Macs is 600,000?
Even then, the download figure is not proof that a system has been hijacked.
The views expressed in my posts are my own based upon what I read on other information supplied by other HPC members.
These should not be used a a definitive answer to any posts I attempt to answer.

Because it is so widely believed that malware simply isn't an issue for Mac OS and Linux, I suspect that most users of these operating systems haven't done anything about protecting themselves, because they think they don't need to.

I assume that they probably count all safari hits as mac, it's fairly easy to detect browsers using javascript.

I guess Linux is the last manstanding, as Steed adheres:

I don't think I'd want one, hard enough for me to keep abreast of Windows which I've been using since 3.1 days

My boss keeps emailing everyone viagra (well, once every other month) from his home PC - I told him to change his password and get anti-virus... But it's a MAC, they don't get viruses!
