France 3 29/3/2012 Limoges

Maurice Martin was found guilty and sentenced to 17 years in prison last Thursday in the high court of Limoges.
He murdered another ex-pat also an ex policeman in September 2009 called John Christopher Bradshaw.
Mauice Martin was an ex- soldier.

My question is will he have to serve his time in a French prison ?
What happens when you are abroad and you end up in prison ?
This is an ex-pat murder so will he eventually be sent back to the UK ?

Like the badly-named Dominique Prieur and Alain Mafart?
Treating nationals who commit crimes abroad as heroes is mainly a French and American disease.
If you want to know what the next political move will be, ask yourself what will suit the banks, and behold, the answer will come to you.

The Credit Crunch :
The logical financial outcome is deflation. The logical political outcome is inflation. (Thanks to Injin 21st Sept 2008)

There are reciprocal agreement in Europe and some other countries (Strasbourg Convention) so he can be transferred to his home country. As a high profile example this happened to a French singer called Bertrand Cantat and was also the case in the Arche de Zoé trial although there is no formal agreement with Tchad.

Same thing as what happens if you are back home. In the EU there is a 2006 agreement on prisoner treatment but gangs try to extort money or goods from you. You maybe get attacked or killed. You maybe get buggered by other prisoners. You may end up a junkie and unable to reintegrate into society when you are released. Couple that with the communication problems you may have with prison staff and medical services. You won't benefit for temporary release or home leave like other prisoners. That said, your may have a shorter prison sentence and avoid paying any fines by staying put.

Makes no difference what the crime is or who was involved. Local law applies. He may get transferred back to the UK, he may serve his time in France and then be ordered to leave the country on his release (under EU rules of compulsory deportation).

Liberation

Marina
Marina 8 years old died on the night of the 6th of August 2009.
Naked in the cellar she was put into a cold water bath where her parents would put here head under the water for long periods of time.
She died due to a violent blow on her head with combined stress and hypothermia.
Her parents then put her body into a bin bag in the freezer.
The next day they mixed some cement then they put her body into a plastic box and covered her with cement.
Next they telephoned the police to say that Marina had gone missing at a local Mcdonalds.
Marina was tortured from the age of 2 until her death at the age of 8 years old.
The iron bar.
It would be impossible to write all of the horrors and tortues that Marina suffered.
Because there are far to many.
However it has to be said that you cannot deny her suffering.
She was kicked and punched beaten with a wooden stick and an iron bar not forgetting the leather belt.
Her head under the ice-cold water in the bath.
The afternoons spent running on gravel without any shoes with a heavy load placed on her back.
The vinegar the salt and vomit that she had to swallow.
Never say that she tried to hide her wounds.
Her face was blown up due to being hit so much that she could hardly open her eyes.
Her arms and legs were deformed she was tortued nearly everyday from the age of two.
At her school her teachers contacted the police.
A video was made of the interview.
She is a pretty blonde girl aged 7 wearing a white dress and pink tee shirt.
She smiles.
"Is everything okay at home ?"
"Yes"
"And at school"
"Yes Yes"
"All the same its strange to find so many marks on your back, stomach, arms and your mouth"
I fell down said Marina.
The police decided to no longer continue with the enquiry;
On her way home in the car she told her parents that she had said nothing to the police.
A year later she was dead.
27/6/12
Eric and Virgine Sabatier were found guilty in the high court of Le Mans of death of a child due to acts of tortue and will spend the next 30 years behind prison bars .

It is estimated in France that there are 3,000 children who are considered as being in a dangerous family situation.

The fake taxi-driver Bruno Cholet recieves a life prison sentence.

Quote
Bruno Cholet a 55 year old illegal taxi-driver was today sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 22 years behind bars.
He was found guilty of the murder of a young swedish girl.
Mr Cholet who has already been found guilty and punished in the past for three rapes one of which was with a child.
Told the court that he was innocent.
Just before the verdict he said to the parents Mr and Mrs Zetterberg "I can look you both straight in the eyes and i am not not the murderer of your daughter"
In 2008 Susanna a 19 year old swedish student who came to France to study french at university in Paris took a taxi to go back home after a night out in a night-club .
She was found the next day in the forest of Chantilly.
Handcuffed with four bullets in her head;
A wound on her throat and her body partially burnt.
It was impossible for the forensic medical police to say if she had been raped due to the state of her corpse.

Her parents are satisfied with the courts decision and her father said "This decision has shown that justice has been done for my daughter".
Bruno Cholet was arrested six days after the crime the weapon that he used as well as three pairs of handcuffs were found in the fake taxi.
CCTV cameras also filmed him trying to use her credit-card at abank.
Despite DNA tests which were positive he still claims that he is innocent.
The judge said.
"Its not enough to say that you are innocent to create a doubt".
