Hello Forum,

Does anybody know of a way to find out when a house was built?

This is partially out of general interest but I also think this information is needed when applying for Home Insurance.

I recently bought a house and nobody: neither the seller nor the neighbours could tell me exact year. even though they lived in it since new. it was all around 1950 to 1960.
Then when I moved in i found a piece of paper built in under the stairs from july 1955. so dead sure on the year of manufacture.

For the insurance they asked for house age to nearest 5 or 10 years
