http://www.dailymail...FIVE-YEARS.html

'Britain's shambolic Border Agency has routinely dropped or downgraded major immigration controls for the past five years without ministerial approval, a devastating report revealed last night.

It found up to half a million Eurostar passengers arriving from French tourist resorts, including Disneyland Paris, were waved into Britain without facing any anti-terror checks.

The European nationals were not examined against the Home Office’s so-called Warnings Index, which contains details of terrorists and dangerous criminals who must be refused entry to keep the public safe.

The report, which was ordered after last year’s revelations that senior civil servants were abandoning passport checks, provoked fury, with MPs criticising Britain’s ‘Mickey Mouse’ immigration controls. Yesterday’s report also revealed how:

Staff at Heathrow Airport allowed foreign students into Britain last year – even if they did not have a valid visa;
Officials abandoned reading expensive biometric chips in passports nearly 15,000 times at ten ports between January and June last year;
Anti-terror checks were abandoned more than 350 times over the two years, mostly at ports in France, because long traffic jams were a ‘health and safety’ problem;
Such is the poor record-keeping at the agency, that the true implications of the border breaches may never be known;
On a number of occasions, including the Eurostar loophole, UKBA staff acted entirely without ministerial approval.

The report, by John Vine, chief inspector of the UK Border Agency, was commissioned last year following the so-called ‘Brodiegate’ scandal.'

it goes on...I thought increased immigration meant we'd all be richer?ok a bit of pressure on housing but all the socialists and big govt advocates assure us regularly that high levels of immigration make them rich.

What's the process for those who arrive illegally to subsequently settle in the UK?

The UK Border agency is doing its job fine. Its designed to let anyone and anything in, and thats still government policy regardless of what they say. The government never changed in 2010, we just got a change of actors.

first they spend a week at Eurodisney, to get acclimatised to our economics system, then they arrive in St Pancreas and register at the nearest Job centre plus for coffee and biscuits and schedule of mansion viewings and how to arrange tickets for the extended family to arrive.

Having just got back from Paris last Friday, it would appear that the system isn't even designed to enable thorough checking.

By which I mean that the checks were fairly thorough when we went through, but the facilities were inadequate for the volume of travellers. Our train was about 20 mins late leaving GdN and it's hard to imagine how they can ever leave on time when full checks are carried out.

You'd make a great hack at the Daily Mail.
Food, shelter; both are basic necessities of life.
If you call out for cheaper food, you are a saint.
If you call out for cheaper shelter, you are ostracised, ridiculed, even your partners and family feel slightly ashamed of you.

:lol:

But seriously, once here (in the UK) how can they stay indefinitely? I can't imagine life under constant threat of deportation, so I was wondering how common it really is.

Yeah, only a tiny minority amongst half a million people will have criminal tendencies, and the majority of UK "terrorists" so-far seem to be either angry unemployed loud mouths (like a lot of people here :lol: ) or inept would be mass killers with poor social skills. You're more likely to be run over by a bus than blown up in one.

But the hypocritical French authorities, "herding" their immigrants they can't handle towards Dover, have a lot to answer for. <_<

But seriously, once here (in the UK) how can they stay indefinitely? I can't imagine life under constant threat of deportation, so I was wondering how common it really is.

the reality is that many jsut make up an NI no,work until someone comes in and says no.lots of cash workers too.as for students at illegal colleges,they end up doing really badly paid jobs for relatives.

as an example,last year domino's pizza had at least five people spread around leicester who jsut stood there all day with sandwich boards around their neck.they had them on roundabouts and at key junctions.I've lived in leicester all my life aside from time abroad and it's easy to spot most recent arrivals whatever the colour of their skin.these poor kids were jsut being abused for way lower than the min wage.

a lot of the workers in restaurants are illegals.it's how they stay open with few customers.

a lot of the back street factories/farm workers run on illegal labour too.

the world of the illegal is a sh1t one.make no mistake they get abused royally.for the girls there's always prostitution.the gangmasters get them in debt and then get them to work it off in the usual manner-of course they never can.so not noly are they ruining business for assorted crack addict hookers and pimps,they're effectively slaves.

of course zanu labour/zanu tories come out with the normal spiel about immigration.

Very common. Too many to deport, the press would jump up and down about human rights and our courts would clog up if you tried. Instead there is a unannounced amnesty, stay here long enough, and you get unlimited leave to remain.
