hayder
I'm sure theyll have another £10,404,000,000 laying around somewhere.... I think your maths might be off slightly... they hardly have $0.5Trillion in gold (if at all).. so they'd need to find another $14Trillion to go with their HALF! davidcameron
My experience of investing, suggests that the markets do the exact opposite to expectations. If America gets down graded, then there may be a rally, because the markets feel the global debt issue is coming to a head. Just a thought.....I'm usually wrong!! They may do the opposite of your expectations. Markets trade on expectations of the future, not what is in the Daily Mail or on internet blogs. By the time journos and retail investors have caught up, the party is over and real money has moved on.
Nationalist
Hope the markets don't fall on Monday, just shoved half of our savings into Sainsburys I took a punt on Sainsburys a few weeks back. Now I'm under water. I'm thinking some rich Arab will come along and buy the company before long. Or failing that, I'll get some of my grocery money back. libspero
Should have posted here instead of the US debt thread. FTSE took a massive nose dive.. apparently due to the US manufacturing index?! Linky

Linky Why is the FTSE holding up so well though? Down less than half a percent while over European markets like the Dax for one pushing 2% down. The FTSE has been the odd one out all day sitting about 1% above all the rest.

No but still out performing all other Euro markets. I heard Intertek was surging due to good results too, maybe that helped.
