Webmaster
Why a Wiki? We had difficulty in the past with the key arguments becoming lost on the forum. There is some really excellent material but it is a bit buried and hard to find. We've tried adding some to the Classics forum but this still hasn't done the job very well. So, we've acted on your feedback and have installed a wiki on this site using the same software that's used on wikipedia. Now we need you help again in making the wiki into an invaluable source of factual articles and well reasoned arguments. We've started the ball rolling by moving the FAQ section onto it. How to get started The HPC wiki is located here: www.housepricecrash.co.uk/wiki. You need to create an account with a username/password/email address in a similar way to the forum. Then you can post away. This is pretty much an experminent and we're going to see how it goes but give us your feedback and also give us a shout if you need any help with any of the wiki commands etc but it's fairly easy to pick up and there's an excellent site here which explains all the wiki formatting. What we are really after is a mini HPC bible which contains all of the arguments, both for an against a house price crash along with anything else associated with it, like SIPPS, why renting is not dead money, etc, etc. If you've got any other ideas for topics then just create a wiki account and go in and add them even if you haven't got the time or inclination to add the main body of information, then hopefully another member of the HPC community will pick up where you left off. Hopefully between us all we can really make this into a definitive source of information. See......told you Fubra were good guys, they've done this already and turned it round in 2 days. With all your ideas and their expertise just think how this site can evolve!!!! There's loads more stuff planned aswell so make sure you add your ideas to the Ideas and Suggestions for Fubra subforum and we'll sift through them...at least we'll have them all documented in one place. Get WIKI ing!!!!
Warwickshire Lad
Hopefully between us all we can really make this into a definitive source of information. Good work, and it's integrated nicely into the look and feel of the site. It's a good opportunity IMO to create a "Best of" section. Occasionally people write some fantastic posts which really hit the nail on the head, and it'd be nice to see them given highlighting here. I will see if I can put my former articles from First Time Buyer Help up there as well, when I can get them updated.

paulm
I noticed that there was a discussion in the forum earlier about Bankruptcy: http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=27810 So I thought, here is a great example of where we could use the wiki, so I have started to create a wiki article on Bankruptcy: http://www.housepricecrash.co.uk/wiki/Bankruptcy If anyone wants to contribute, then feel free! Guest Charlie The Tramp
Could we add The Insolvency Service Guide to Bankruptcy in the section Before You Consider Bankruptcy http://www.insolvency.gov.uk/pdfs/guidance...obankruptcy.pdf

Converted Lurker
This wiki - is this specific to the fledgling brand that is; housepricecrash.co.uk, or the generic and well known phrase that is "house price crash"? Are we expanding the theory and meaning of the phrase, or attempting to substitute the well known phrase with the brand? If it is expanding the theory and drilling down the detail count me in..seriously

paulm
Is there anyway to add HTML pages into the Wiki, got an article to upload but it has Tables and the like in it. The wiki supports tables, but not really any other html tags. It has its own markup language which is really easy to use for things like headings, bullet points etc.. There is a useful guide to wiki formatting here: http://tmbw.net/wiki/index.php/Basic_Wiki_Formatting

brendan
Wiki is really coming on great now thanks to all who are helping so far and if you haven't tried it yet have a go and share your knowledge. The more info we get the better informed everyone can be about all the issues to do with housing.
DoubleBubbleTrouble
What's correct etiquette on the Wiki for raising discussion points about pages? Should I edit the page and put a comment on or Use the Discussion entry thingy on the left (although the problem with this is the Wiki doesn't seem configured to visually highlight discussion entries are active for a page yet). or Post about the page on a forum somewhere? BTW do I get a free HPC t-shirt if I do a certain amount of Wiki entries Edited April 14, 2006 by DoubleBubbleTrouble
paulm
I would make your proposed change on the article page, but then a leave a note on the discussion page with your comment about the change. I will look to see if we can make the discussion page stand out if it has entries, but as a matter of course people should go to the discussion page if they want to comment on anything written on the wiki. Yes, I'm sure we can get some FREE HPC t-shirts for the most active wikiers!

SE20
Is the wiki still alive? I was thinking of adding things, but don't want it to be pointless.
