dalek
So after two and a half years we finally have a buyer and have accepted £120,000. We dropped gradually from £139,000 although it started at £160,000. A great relief. But rock-bottom price for a 5-bed 2 reception victorian terrace in good order, if dated slightly. Interesting that others on the market as long as us haven't dropped at all in that time! They must be insane.
StainlessSteelCat
Many congratulations on the sale, dalek. That's a pretty good result considering the market around here at the moment. Asking prices are massively distorted by those who are happy to stay sale-free for years on end.
dalek
Thanks Stainlesssteelcat! We were supposed to exchange this week, but solicitors dragging feet as per. Where are you?
Bemusedmover
I predict that house prices in Wales will soon show a significant % price rise! ............lots of home owners are selling up, paying off their mortgage and looking to buy outright ...........Wales is one of the few areas these people can still afford! (ignoring the dreamer sellers by the way) ...........Oh congrats by the way
StainlessSteelCat
Thanks Stainlesssteelcat! We were supposed to exchange this week, but solicitors dragging feet as per. Where are you? The other side of the mountains, dalek - near Bangor. Bemusedmover - North Wales prices have been out of sync with the rest of the UK for some time now. They've been slowing drifting downwards for the last five years or more. Trouble is the picture is clouded by it being a small market and lists of houses for sale being dominated by those with high asking prices being on the market for years. If you actually want a sale, and unless you get lucky, you have to make significant cuts. I guess the lower prices are because of perceived insularity of locals (not true in my experience), weather (it rains a hell of a lot), slow and limited transport network and few jobs. Plenty of local stories of tourists falling in love with the place during the summer, buying a place and selling up immediately after enduring their first winter. The weather is certainly exciting around here. 110mph gales near here in the last week.

Fell out of a canoe there in November once as a teenager and realised how quickly people can be in life or death situations on the water in the instant I came up to the surface. Luckily there were other people and a rescue boat there, so we were pulled to safety pretty fast. The outdoor pursuits place we stayed at was called Cornelyn Manor I think, but as I can never find it on the internet it must have closed long ago, or my spelling is wrong? Have been a happy North Wales resident for nearly 2 months now weather was/and is surprising warmer than we expected (up until the gale of course) - we still travel back to see other relatives and it is always 2 or 3 degrees colder! living costs are much lower - petrol 3p litre less for example I suspect (getting back on topic) that the estate agents are tightly controlling the market

Was it Colomendy you're thinking of? Apparently generations of Liverpool schoolchildren have been going there since 1939 according to the BBC website! http://www.kingswood.co.uk/centres/colomendy
