tomandlu
The US have a working health system. That is a fact. Whether you think it is better or worse is an opinion. That is truly delusional. By the same token a box of plasters and a tube of antiseptic is a "working" health system. You have to be willing to define 'working' or it's meaningless. Traktion
That is truly delusional. By the same token a box of plasters and a tube of antiseptic is a "working" health system. You have to be willing to define 'working' or it's meaningless. Come now... if it didn't work, no one would be getting any treatment. It may cost twice as much to do the same thing as the NHS, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. Likewise, Singapore offering better healthcare doesn't mean the NHS doesn't work either. I even bounded my original statement, saying that it was much discredited. I am hardly saying it is the best model there is!
Charlie The Tramp Returns
So where does the money come from then? Just put on your thinking cap. The Government`s Chief Collecting Agency and Bank for all Government income known as HM Treasury.
Traktion
Just put on your thinking cap. The Government`s Chief Collecting Agency and Bank for all Government income known as HM Treasury. Are you suggesting that the rich pay for the poor and without their funding, the poor wouldn't be able to afford as many services? I'm wondering why you're being so coy about this. It's classic socialist redistribution - stealing from one set, to give to another.
PopGun
I am happy to debate how this can work in health care or anything else, but is just forcing people to do stuff, really the best we can do? Is it really the peak of civilisation? Do people really have such a low regard for other humans, that they need to be corralled into doing something against their will? Problem is the vast majority would still choose to contribute to a 'state'. I'm sure there must be some kind of middle ground, making it work so everyone is happy with their arrangements is the hard part.

I'm sure there must be some kind of middle ground, making it work so everyone is happy with their arrangements is the hard part. There's nothing wrong with that. Everyone is free to associate in groups, as well as with one another. However, forcing people against their will to do the same, is wrong. It is tyrannous.
