12th floor flat in a council block, £84,950

  • 125 year lease from 1982 - so 94 years on the lease.
  • On the 12th floor - so probably unmortgageable. In turn, making the asking price seem very high.
  • Wall removed in kitchen - because we love 'open plan living', don't we? I wonder if the structual integrity of the block has been comprimised?
  • Service Charges (includes heating) is £1,975 a year.
  • Looks like a 3rd bedroom has been squeezed in somehow.

STR - August 2010.

Up for auction is this25m2 studio in Sheffield.
Not overpriced (well, 10k would be all I'd want to part with for that) but the image surely has to be a contender for unsettling property image of the year.

Why 10k - it's an awning / shed / shambles!!!!! Bubbles in trailer park boys has better accomodation.

The UK is well and truly FKD. I hope whoever is trying to flog that disgrace goes bankrupt.
We have got into the habit of admiring colossal bandits, whose opulence is revered by the entire world, yet whose existence, once we stop to examine it, proves to be one long crime repeated ad infinitum, but those same bandits are heaped with glory, honors, and power, their crimes are hallowed by the law of the land, whereas, as far back in history as the eye can see -- and history, as you know, is my business -- everything conspires to show that a venial theft, especially of inglorious foodstuffs, such as bread crusts, ham, or cheese, unfailingly subjects its perpetrator to irreparable opprobium, the automatic dishonor, and inexpiable shame, and this for two reasons, first because the perpetrator of such an offense is usually poor, which in itself connotes basic unworthiness, and secondly because his act implies, as it were, a tacit reproach to the community. - Celine

^^ That studio flat is utterly depressing - even at £25k! :( It doesn't even appear to have it's own letterbox!

This unremarkable early 1960s 1 bedroomed ex-council flat is on at an eye-watering £115k! Despite it's central location I can't quite see why it's on for this amount. It might sell at £85k. Even 2 bedroomed ex-LA flats in NR2 seem to be lingering on the market at around the £100k mark with little interest.

London fantasy pricing bleeding out .. here's one in a nondescript strip redbrick hamlet in the flat and noisy badlands of the Heathrow final approach between Ascot and Windsor ... compact lounge that needs to double as a diner as the kitchen is tiny and there's no dining room ... three small bedrooms (one little more than a box room) ... a 'workshop' too narrow to be a garage ... and all for OFFERS OVER £550k. (At least £150k too much if you ask me and we are reasonably clued up on asking prices in this area).

Seems to me the muppet who owns it overpaid wildly for it when it was a newbuild in 2004 (£400k).

Suppose not a total shithole really but in fairy dreamland land when it comes to pricing for such a poky little place ...

(incidentally the Street View is a classic of its kind). BTW that's Next Door's Boxter casually cropped into the shot for a bit of kerb appeal. Needs all the help it can get.

Width wise, it has exactly (maybe a bit smaller even) the same footprint as a double garage. Maybe thats what it was, an extended double garage for a neighbouring property.

That house looks quite spacious compared to this one in Norwich NR7 At least the Berkshire one has a downstairs WC and it has a larger lounge.

Looking at the front of the house I would have guessed a 2 bedroomed house - but the developers managed to squeeze in a partition wall at a jaunty angle between the two bedrooms and cut into the bathroom too.

Offers in excess of £180k. OK priced for a normal detached house in the area but not one as small as this.

The Peckham flat is my style, it's no sh*thole, it's just located in one. There's a few places in London where I hide my keys and cash when I get off the tube and Peckham is one (add to that Camberhell and Stratford). Peckham has always been cheaper for a reason, it hasn't just undergone some massive re-generation has it, not that I'm aware of? £335k, stroll on! London can't make up it's mind can it? For 10 k less you could have this in Chiswick with more square metres http://www.rightmove...y-37617286.html and rather than get mugged, the worst that will happen to you is someone will do a wild 3-point turn in the road.
Tell me all about it and start at the end.

It's not the house for sale I'm interested in (although it is in Morden so overpriced by about £249,900), it's the house at the end of the terrace attached to it. What is that?

Cripes, talk about shoehorning a house into an awkward space! L shaped house on what looks to be a triangular plot. I bet the unattached neighbour was not impressed watching that being built. Posted Image One more house competing for a parking space at the end of the cul de sac. Energy rating is E sounds very poor for a fairly modern house.

If the house is number 25a then it sold for £189,950 in November 2010. So £60k overpriced straight away. :D

Excellent research. I'm wondering what you could fit in the long thin L shaped bit. A really long toilet next to the hallway. Or just a really long hallway, a bowling alley...

I was totally sold just by looking at the "substantial south west facing private terrace".

Has Peckham got a tube station.....or Camberwell for that matter?
