Darkman
I'm currently backing up online, and being a miserly so and so as usual, I prefer not to pay The best I've found is Adrive with 50Gb free. And it's not one of those awful software back up progs that slows your connection and PC either. Just simple upload space. Are there other free sites that don't require back up software? 50Gb for free isn't too bad!
interestrateripoff
I didn't realised anyone was offering that amount free. Been considering uploading my pictures to skydrive which gives you 7gb free. 50gb would certainly be useful.
Darkman
50Gb is pretty darn good, yes. Especially with multiple accounts
jonb
<subscribe> Also, are there any decent cloud services that can be mapped to a drive letter on WinXP or Win7? Buckers Well the premium versions of adrive offer webdav which can be mapped to a drive letter. I guess there are many other services that offer webdav as well. It looks like something I need to supplement my normal back up routines (when I remember to ). There doesn't seem to be data encryption with the free plan. How secure would my data be? MarkG
There's one.... anything else - more subtle than that? If they're desperate enough for users to give away 50GB for free, will the company still be there when you need to download it again?
thecrashingisles
Why would a company offer 50Gb of free storage? What's in it for them? Why bother with malware and phishing when you can simply get people to give you their data?
Neptune
Why would a company offer 50Gb of free storage? What's in it for them? when they have enough people on it who find the service necessary they will introduce a small fee which people will pay as its too much hassle to not to. This fee will rise relentlessly by small increments untill youre paying 20 quid a month or more for the service. The boiled wallet technique. Or maybe not. Advertising revenue?? i m surprised yahoo hotmail etc havent started introducing small fees yet.

200p
Could one start a could storage business, using their servers. Sort of being a leech but in the internet world? You then tout business users like banks, supermarkets, and charge a healthy fee?
