They should have bought next doors with the money and called it a detached........anyway to some people a bigger garden they can enjoy is worth much more to them than an extra bedroom. Back when sellers had fewer people in the market with access to the financing to buy, when they were concerned for their jobs, and some wanted to wait for further value to emerge. If only we could have a return to those conditions where lending on over-valued assets is restricted and more expensive, as it was for a narrow time in 2009 before Gov thought it so unfair to home-owners, many of whom seen value of their homes rise x20- x100 times since buying. To bail out the victims who bought in 2004-07, and keep older owners happy with hyperinflated housing wealth. The house seems to gain value because it is 'in Richmond', but this is about as far away from the lifestyle you'd get on Richmond Hill or by the river as possible. People would be far better to move out to Sutton or Epsom and buy a good house on one of the best roads for the same amount of money rather than living 'in Richmond' on a dual carriageway opposite a petrol station. crashmonitor Posted June 7, 2013 Share Posted June 7, 2013 (edited) They may consider they have the best house on the road, but location-wise it sides onto a dual carriageway and is exposed to noise having roads and pavements on two boundaries. Up North this would be a hard one to shift, actually nearly impossible in a slow market, and might be the worst located house on the road.
