interestrateripoff
http://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/439035/Devastating-100mph-storm-to-bring-48-hours-of-utter-hell Hurricane-force winds of up to 100mph – strong enough to uproot trees, cause severe structural damage and tear down power lines – are expected to hit the UK on Sunday night or Monday morning. As forecasters warned that Britain faces a “historic” storm, the Met Office issued a level-2 amber warning for strong winds along the south coast. It issued lower level-1 yellow warnings for strong winds and rain for almost all the rest of England and Wales. So if we have a poor Q4 will this storm be blamed for people not going out Christmas shopping etc....?
fluffy666
So if we have a poor Q4 will this storm be blamed for people not going out Christmas shopping etc....? It's late October, and the forecast is - please no one faint - 'Wind and Rain'. I believe the long term forecast is that December and January will be 'Colder than June'. Please form an orderly queue for the evacuation.

Wurzel Of Highbridge
Not wanting anyone to get hurt, but if the storm demolished a large section of the "old, energy inefficient, no parking or garden" housing and new stuff had to be built then it would be a good thing. Just like the bombing in WW2.
Hectors House
On Saturday the earth is going to be hit by a solar storm from the Sun, so expect problems with mobile phones, wifi and GPS. If the skies are clear at night Northern Britain will be treated to an aurora display!

fluffy666
What sort of time MT? I'm driving up the M3 on Monday mid-day. Ta. Well according to the latest forecasts from the Express, we'll start with golf-ball-sized hail covering the land late on Sunday, Sunday night 500 mph winds will demolish any structures more than 3 feet high whilst ripping up the tarmac from the roads, early Monday morning at least 6 feet of rain will fall sweeping any remaining structures into the sea in gigantic floods, shortly before great cracks open up in the earth's crust and pour red hot molten lava all over the home counties; during the Monday morning commute a legion of hell's most putrescent demons will march out of the caves of the deep to devour the very souls of any who still live; the second coming of Diana will hence be around tea time. Frank Hovis
Met office spoiling the panic party by saying it might even miss us entirely Warning over severe storm risk 24 October 2013 - Unsettled weather is expected to continue over the next few days with further spells of heavy rain and strong winds for most parts, particularly over Saturday and Sunday. Then as we move into Sunday night and Monday morning there is a risk a significant storm could develop close to the UK which has the potential to bring some exceptionally strong winds to parts of the country. Currently the storm is most likely to impact the southern half of the UK, with the potential for gusts of more than 80mph - especially on exposed coasts in the south. Winds of this strength could bring down trees or cause structural damage, potentially causing transport disruption or power cuts. Eddy Carroll, Chief Forecaster at the Met Office, said: "This storm doesn't exist at the moment, but our forecasts models predict it is likely to develop in the west Atlantic on Saturday. Then it's likely to rapidly intensify just west of the UK late on Sunday before tracking across England and Wales early on Monday. "There is still a chance this storm may take a more southerly track and miss the UK, bringing impacts elsewhere in northern Europe, but people should be aware there is a risk of severe weather and significant disruption. With that in mind, people should keep up to date with and act on the advice in our forecasts and warnings as the situation develops." http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/news/releases/archive/2013/Severe-storm-risk
