Goes without saying this was entirely predictable. Utterly unaccountable and out of touch scum are laughing at the rest of us.

Commuters outraged that Simon Burns spends £80,000 a year on car for 35-mile trip

LAST UPDATED AT 11:49 ON Sun 6 Jan 2013

THE MINISTER overseeing sharp rises in rail fares uses a chauffeur-driven car to make the 35-mile commute from his Essex home to Whitehall, at a cost to taxpayers of £80,000 a year.

Simon Burns insists he only takes the £400-a-day car because he can't take sensitive ministerial documents on a train for "security reasons", the Mail on Sunday reports. But the paper says his claim has been “contradicted” by the Cabinet Office which says ministers are free to work on sensitive documents in public as long as the classified material cannot be seen.

It's probably cheaper than a season ticket

You can't expect him to use a crowded train.

He might realise the service is a bit 5h1te.

This story has really amused me. Most people who have to commute into our office use the same Greater Anglia line that he would have to, and "a bit shite" is an understatement.

Even as I type, there are signalling problems between Stratford and Liverpool Street meaning 15 mins + delays and cancellations. That's quite good for GA as well.

You can't have a minister delayed he might have an important meeting to attend with some nice biscuits. The country might fail to function without him.

He doesn't need to take "documents" home with him. If he can't get through his work during the day he should work late at the office.

There is a gross contradiction here.

MP and work?

Non compredes comrade...

Unless you mean lining up his post political career with a completely by coincidence job with the companies he gave major 'subsidy increases' to during his tenure.
