Drummer

Merryn Somerset Webb - changed her tune

Recommended Posts

Search on google news for - What will happen to house prices in 2018?  - and you will see it.

She is advocating 'stable' prices as a good thing.  No thanks....after year after year of 10% increases we could do with year after year of 10% falls...

She bemoans the "maddeningly stupid HTB scheme" so a tick there...

Well, shes making the classic mistake - plateuing .or prices.

An unlikely outcome with wages still falling in real prices and mortgage rates starting to tick up.

That worked, thanks.

Great stuff....last bear turns bull - sort of.

Love the comments section.

She doesn't get any less fit looking does she?

I forgot about that.  She did buy didn't she? Last thing she needs is a crash.

Debt, or not - she is still hot.

Have you noticed she's part of a genre of prominent, pay attention to, Oxbridge ladies.  Fit (as in slimish), well spoken with a slight lisp (or something), go ahead, interesting, intelligent (for Oxbridge!), slightly irreverant, sense of humour, etc.  Ms Tate and the ones in the BBC to name a few others.  Quite attractive in many ways. Wonder what they're like to meet but then I don't want to be disallusioned or risk my respect for them.

Has anyone actually read the article?  It is actually very bearish.  MSW hasn't changed her tune at all!

Reading the article? An interesting novel approach lastlaugh.

Seems like a harmless and even reasonable innovation, but where will your madness end?

IIRC she brought in Edinburgh, and acknowledged she was jumping into a bubble

Yes and she bought a studio in London a year ago

Five Reasons I Think London House Prices will crash

Just an educated guess, but the name is sort of a giveaway that her money may be a little bit older than most on here, and therefore she can afford to take a massive hit.

Oh look, Daddy could afford to send her to Wycombe Abbey.

i take it you don`t frequent specsavers.

Not that it matters, as I like her for being very smart and having a good grasp of what the UK economy is about, but my definition of hot is something else.

Edited to add, the London studio flat, that's a choice that could be borne of simple maths versus staying in London hotel 100 nights per year vs/mortgage at little percent on own place. I'd never do that but I can see why people do it.

Hard to say how a position like that would influence a view on the market as a whole.
