Bruce Banner
Welcome to the Nethouseprices Property Newsletter - keeping you up-to-date with the latest property news. The UK housing market had a spectacular year in 2015, with rising house prices and rents meaning that property investment has never looked more appealing, but what is on the horizon for 2016? Regular readers will know that we have almost despaired of interpreting the UK housing market in recent weeks. The mortgage lenders, property industry bodies and housing economists have been delivering apparently irreconcilable statistics. And have been - almost without exception - reticent about making long-term predictions regarding the market Even by its own perennially hectic standards, the UK property market has been generating a lot of media headlines in the past few days. The Government's hugely controversial buy-to-let measures continue to occupy many inches of newsprint and there is - frankly - little sign of the noise around this issue abating any time soon. The Housing Bill is still being batted back and forth between both Houses of Parliament... There are so many stories currently whirling around about an impending house price crash. Some of them are, frankly, stopping only barely short of hysteria. This makes it easy to forget the existence of a large group of people who would welcome a drop in the cost of residential properties.
