Scottish Independence Would Come At A High Price

42 posts in this topic

If the English are as bankrupt then as they are now, they might struggle to save anyone...:lol::rolleyes:

True, but remember it's the UK that's bankrupt - for now.

As an Englishman I would be perfectly happy for Scotland to leave debt free. Almost any price is worth paying to be rid of that communist block.

The problem with the oft brought up Scottish independence debate is that it's mostly lacking any good points, from either side, and more often than not is inundated with bigotry.

When the oil runs out people, whether by one or two states on the same island, is that Britain is finished. Period.

I wish they'd hurry up and vote because I don't know how much longer I can politely pretend to give a rat's ass.... oops, too late!

Her presentation doesn't make sense, in the first slide she says 8.3% tax without oil revenue and 9.3% spending then says 10% 'deficit' including oil in the next slide....that doesn't add up.

Another F*ck up the left are responsible for.

Well I for one hope they do get independence because it will mean Labour will never win power in England again.

Mind you, the Scots will be bankrupt in a generation and we will then have to save their sorry backsides yet again I suppose.

Idiotic post. Labour would have won in '97 without the Scottish vote, as has been pointed out on this forum many times before.

Idiotic post. Scottish parliament is now SNP led, as has been pointed out on this forum many times before.

Its a bit of a sweeping statement to say scotland is 'inundated' with bigotry.

But accurate I guess.

Bigotry? Us? Against who/what? We are a model of tolerant society on this side of the Great Divide......

People who eat fruit for a start.

Why should the English run Scotland? It's a different country. They don't run Ireland any more. So why Scotland or Wales?

If the Scots want to thieve from each other, rather than have the English involved, good luck to them.

If they mess it up, they'll be in same position as any other European country that messes it up. The Germans will undermine their industry,, drive them into bankruptcy, and depopulate them. So what? German beer's okay.

I think perhaps your response, discounting the likelihood of it's tongue in cheek rhetoric, amplifies my point.

Scotland has more water and that will be their new oil. Imagine how much England will need when they keep packing in the immigrants.

Not just the water, but also hydroelectricity IMO. Norway gets 98.5% of its grid power from Hydro (and exports another 10 or so percent, so could be entirely self sufficient) , And having rugged topography and a low population would, i imagine, allow the same policy to work in Scotland.

Mass immigration has simply destroyed the outlook for England once shortages/outages get underway. It'll make last years riots look like a day at the seaside. I dont really believe fracking will be all that.

'Even australia's current centre left govt has rejected its 'big australia' project for 'sustainable australia' one, shoring up immigration policies - despite having vast natural resources.
