Maybe we will know a bit more on Thursday?

http://aims.niassembly.gov.uk/assemblybusiness/businessdiary.aspx

Interesting that Paul Tweeds name comes up so often. The unmentionable blogger certainly seems confident in his ability to tether any Tweed storm. Solicitors, in general seem to have a lot of involvement in this whole episode. Am quite interested in the BR sols who were involved in this deal too.

Feel like I'm watching an intense intricate 'who done it' that keeps buffering at the good bits.

I imagine there are people behind the scenes asking the committee to drop the investigation. There's a real possibility they could prejudice the NCA investigation. Why not compel the law society? It looks to me like some behind the scenes had a political agenda to take someone down, and quickly. Quicker than a MCA investigation anyway.

http://www.irishnews.com/business/2015/07/22/news/london-urges-stormont-to-keep-a-close-eye-on-cerberus--199602/

"The British government has warned the Stormont Executive to "keep a close eye" on the situation around the Cerberus purchase of Nama assets in the north.

It came after members of a Westminster committee looking into banking matters revealed they have heard "disquieting stories" from some businesses in Northern Ireland that they were being "treated by Cerberus in a less than sympathetic manner"

"In its response yesterday, the government said: "We find it strange that no Memorandum of Understanding was ever agreed between the NI Executive and Cerberus, and therefore recommend that the Executive keeps a close eye on this situation."

It added: "A potential Memorandum of Understanding is an issue for the Northern Ireland Executive. But it is important that Cerberus lives up to its commitment to be a good partner for Northern Ireland."

The 'Banking on recovery?' report by the NI Affairs Committee - chaired by Laurence Robertson MP and whose members include local MPs Lady Sylvia Hermon, Danny Kinahan, Dr Alasdair McDonnell, Ian Paisley and Gavin Robinson - took a broad-brush look across the entire financial services sector in the north.

It including focusing on lending to SME businesses, transparency in the sector, participation (or lack of it) by local banks in the Funding for Lending Scheme, recent bank IT failures and branch closures."

http://www.irishtimes.com/business/financial-services/nama-faces-legal-action-over-80m-sale-of-prague-properties-1.2292643

"The National Asset Management Agency (Nama) is embroiled in a dispute with a Czech property company that says it was excluded from the €80 million sale of an asset, despite claiming it would bid the highest price.

The Savarin Palace project, owned by the Ballymore group on one of Prague’s main squares, is on the verge of being sold to another Czech firm whose management includes a former Ballymore executive.Ballymore is controlled by Seán Mulryan, who is due to give evidence to the banking inquiry today."

This is interesting... B)

THE BLOGGER SHOULDN'T OF BOTHERED WITH THAT LAST BLOG Y DAY STARTING TO SOUND VERY DAVID ICKE!

I notice from that Irish News article a strongly worded letter from the Belfast accountant to Tughans..."sought an explanation as to why the money owed had not been paid."

This is NAMA's list of procurement notices which might help shed light on Belfast accountant reported by IN today

https://www.nama.ie/about-us/our-work/procurement/

NI's (and Dept of Finance/Personnel's) most senior civil servant before NAMA NI Inquiry from 10.35 this morning

Coulter's statement unveiled a dispute with his former employer. The lawyer said £7.5m was paid into a Tughans "company account". A portion was retained by Tughans and the remainder of the money was then transferred by a colleague to the offshore bank account under his instruction.

This is the big bit. Tughans said they told the law society about the money as soon as they were aware of it. Looks like Coulter is saying something else.

  1. It would be fascinating to see NAMA's own minutes of its meeting with NI DFP in Dec 2012, particularly what it has to say about Millmount.

  2. Ian "Two Merc SUVs" Coulter is now a director of several Lagan companies, and is recorded as a director of Lagan Salt Limited 2011-2014.

Four months later, NAMA announced a €12m investment to develop Millmount with the construction contract going to Lagan Homes. Hmmmm.

Item #1 on Dec 2012 meeting agenda between DFP & NAMA was Millmount, a residential development in Dundonald. No mins of that meeting.

However, it has come to my attention that a senior official at Brown/Rudnick, the law firm at the centre of Project Eagle, claims on the firm’s website that he secured an off market discounted UK loan portfolio sale from NAMA.

“This is clearly at odds with NAMAs policy of not granting exclusive access to any potential purchaser as stated by its Chairperson Frank Daly at the Public Accounts Committee on July 9th."

Tuvi Keinan is the head of the Brown Rudnick's Special Situations Team and senior member of the European Real Estate Finance Practice and also the solicitor who wrote to Sammy Wilson. Omega Poole is a partner in the Real Estate Special Situations Team who represented BR in project Eagle. They sound like James Bond characters to me. Pesky solicitors seem to be causing all sorts of problems.

Who remembers a little book that was produced by socialists many years ago called "Can the Catholic and Protestant working class ever unite?" Isn't it heartwarming to see how the Catholic and Protestant wealthy have been working together successfully for so long? Well, no, really.
