It looks to me that Iran have several interrelated problems now. They want to be seen as billy big bllcks in the ME - so they have to be seen to retaliate. The implication is that Israel is calling bluff on proxy asymmetry: proxy attacks will now result in Israel retaliating directly. Retaliating directly could mean Irans nuclear program is now under military threat.
