Under their Association Agreement which entered into force in March 2000, the EU and Morocco established a Free Trade Area liberalising two-way trade in goods. They have subsequently developed the FTA further through an agreement on trade in agricultural, agro-food and fisheries products and a protocol establishing a bilateral dispute settlement mechanismbg-linktype-external.png both of which entered into force in 2012.

The Free Trade Area established under the EU-Morocco Association Agreement provides for:

    • tariff-free two-way trade of industrial products, together with a selective liberalisation of trade in agricultural, agro-food and fisheries products
    • rules and disciplines on non-tariff based trade measures
    • a general right to establish businesses and provide services in the other territory
    • current payments and capital movements
    • common rules on competition and intellectual property

The EU and Morocco concluded negotiations for an Agreement on Geographical Indications in January 2015:  respective procedures for adopting this Agreement are now underway.

There is an agreement (pg 2) showing product conformity of assessment on fresh fruit imported from Morocco.  This would reduce the amount of batch testing that is required on each pallet of strawberries.

Unfortunately you might be right about the panic buying.  This is because people are being deliberately wound up.  Something I note in passing will be very advantageous for supermarket balance sheets....

UK customs won't impede imports.  Why should they?  The EU itself has put in contingency plans.  The port of Calais says there is no reason for delays.

I'd imagine that the EU would apply for WTO emergency waivers in order to help prevent food & medical imports from being blocked.  There will be checks at all EU ports for all UK (third country) exports of goods of animal origin (SPS)...

But the reasoned strategic Brexit for the benefit of the population was never on offer - look at all the memes going round and what Leavers are parroting about WTO.

I think the ‘game’ is intended as per local hero and chums: smash up the state stitch  the pieces together along RW lines, make a killing out of serfdom.

Some further elaboration of the Roland Smith thread.

From the horses mouth, so to speak..

...an interesting read, where Cummings, Banks, Farage et al. were utterly complicit in not wanting an exit plan...

So what brexit solution do you advocate DB - to overcome this border issue?

I would just push through the WA as is, and then work towards a way of not requiring it; ie developing an EEA type solution afterwards (then kick into the process of developing a two tier Europe). If we go into a no deal situation, the issues (citizens, money, irish border) will still need to be settled before an agreement with the EU is made.  The EU will want to get further concessions (after the fact) out of the UK before they will agree to sign up to anything.  Under the thumb of the EU will make it harder for the UK to develop a two tier Europe.  Under the WA, at least we can make our own decisions in what we what to do...after a no deal, it will be much more difficult...

We need to think about the long game..

I could take what you said further, but I won't, I personally don't have the stamina like so many on this thread. Brexit or Remain, both have good and bad points, there are varying degrees to how bad or good things will get whatever we choose, I personally think the pain will be slight after a period of time whatever we choose.

My gripe on this thread is with people who return to this board on an hourly basis on some occasions to just sat "look, i have found something else bad or good", but always fits their agenda and it is 100% of the message the world will end should you make the wrong choose, which is b****x on whatever side you are on, and it is fine to be on a side I might add, just don;t be over the top

It’s the lies and misinformation on both sides that really annoy me.
